Singapore is a city state in South East Asia located at the center of trade route between the Pacific and Indian Ocean. A very diverse city populated by Chinese, Malay, Indian and other groups from around the world.
Singapore is city filled with diverse culture and delicious cuisine, standing on a crevase between traditional and modern architecture, people and the future. It is a popular destination for everyone around the world.
The city state has a humid and hot climate located just north of the equator surrounded by the sea. And it is a very expensive city to live but you'll certainly enjoy the diversity of food and attractions in Singapore. In other words, Singapore has became a flashpoint of cultures of Asia.
Singapore city
I have visited from November 22 to 26, 2022 for almost 5 days. Destinations were Merlion, Marina Bay Sands, Gardens by the Bay, Esplanade, Bugis, Chinatown, Suntec City Mall, Clarke Quay, The Jewel in Changi Airport and of course, Hawker food centers.
For 4 days, I worked and traveled so I mostly stayed around cafes with internet connection during work hours. It is plenty convenient that Manila and Singapore have the same timezone except the time of sunrise and sunset.
I walked around the Central Area around Raffles, Telok Ayer and Chinatown. For a short time, I have also managed to go to Promenade and Bugis for a short walk. Despite the size of the city, I underestimated its size. I tirelessly walked from Merlion to Chinatown in a single day and got lost along the way.
Staying at a hostel around the Singapore river gave me a lots of food options from Market Street, Hong Lim, Maxwell and Lau Pa Sat food centres. I tried Hainanese Chicken Rice, Bak Ku Teh, Fried Kway Teow, Laksa, Char Siew, Oyster Cake and Nasi Lemak.
Structures in Singapore
The most stunning part of Singapore is the airport. How can you not be amaze before exiting Singapore, you can still enjoy the beauty of the city and what it can offer inside the Changi airport. The Jewel Rain Vortex is an incredible indoor waterfall just by its immense size and depth. Even if you go under the basement levels, you can still be amaze by the flowing water vortex inside the glass while sipping a drink.
My only regret is I do not have enough budget to stay longer in Singapore even for additional 3 days. I haven't even been into Orchard, Sentosa or its parks. Or even cross the border into Malaysia. Traveling around Singapore is fairly easy because of the interconnected railways and buses.
Everything can be walked in Singapore but you'll be sweating quite frequently because of the climate's humidity. It is better to take a bus even if your destination is a bit closer. Also, Singapore is not as crowded compared to Manila so I find it very pleasant to move around.
Anyway, I'll skip the details of the whole trip and create a post about food on its own matter for Dubai and Singapore.
I will look forward for 2023 for more travel experience. Lastly, I think I need to buy a new camera lens and body as well.
